Hi, I’m Laura McGrady, a London-based writer/performer.

Having studied at The Royal Central School for Speech and Drama graduating with an MA in Writing for Stage and Broadcast Media I am now focusing on my screenwriting.

My short film Wolf, starring Alexa Davies is currently in post production.

My play ‘Stand By For Further Destruction’ was longlisted for the Paines Plough Female Playwright Prize in 2020 and The Originals Playwrights Award in 2022.

The second season of my podcast ‘The People Outside’ received funding from The Arts Council England and is available now.

Originally from Newcastle, I moved south to train in acting at The Oxford School of Drama. I began writing for the stage after graduation. I have since had my writing performed at The Kings Head, Theatre 503, Theatre N16, York Theatre Royal, The Vaults, The Southwark Playhouse, and Katzpace. I have trained under playwrights such as Simon Stephens with Paper Creatures, Brad Birch with Theatre 503, and Chris Bush with The National Theatre.
